Air slides depend on gravity to move the material along. They are inclined in the range of 6 - 10 degrees for moving fine materials. A relatively small volume of air is passed through a porous membrane into the material to make it flow. Air slides are often used to receive material from bucket elevators at the top of the silo, in silo extraction system or pre-heater tower and move the material nearly horizontally.
